自分が卒業した大学でtravel writingを講じているオーストラリア人のアナに手紙。この先生がやっている留学生向けの授業に、1ターム分混ぜさせてもらったのである。

池澤夏樹の詩集「塩の道」の中の一節を英語で紹介したい一心でつづったのだが、自分のこの英訳で少しでもニュアンスは伝わっただろうか。 “The travelers are, in short, the kind of person who are likely to be deceived most often, and thus they are willing to spend their whole lives walking, with expecting something a little ahead of them.”
